Loose pages taken from Cricket Scores and Biographies by Arthur Haygarth, including the completed scores of all seven matches played. The opponents on the tour were the MCC, Prince's Club, Richmond, Surrey Club, Sheffield, Manchester and Ireland (in Dublin). A.G. Spalding was a member of the tour party.

The tour was arranged to promote baseball in this country. Combined with exhibitions of baseball, they played seven cricket matches, all against weak sides, winning four, drawing three, and losing none. Haygarth states that the matches are recorded in his works "though scarcely deserving a place" and that baseball had not taken root in England  "since it cannot be compared to cricket".
