Handwritten letter in ink on personal headed notepaper, dated April 9th, 1930. Bosanquet writes to E.G. Martin (Worcestershire), who contributed the chapter on bowling to The Lonsdale Library's "The Game of Cricket", published by Seeley, Service & Co. Ltd. in 1930. Martin had asked a number of great bowlers of the time to provide field positions for their own bowling - Bosanquet's plan, as provided in this letter, was recreated in the book on page 71 (of the first edition). Comes directly from the Seeley, Service archive. The letter states in full:
"Dear Martin, Glad to hear of you again. I give on the other side my field as I can recollect it, but it's 25 years since I bowled slows! I've reverted to the old Oxford stuff only rather slower! I hope you'll get a very successful article. With best regards, yours BJT Bosanquet.
Things varied according to the batsman. Sometimes I had to do without point and have a deep cover or extra. Sometimes another out on the on, and move short square leg, in which case mid-on came to where pencilled."
