Original scorecard for the cricket match played at Canterbury on August 11-12, 1869. WG Grace scored 127, becoming the first person to score a century before lunch on the first day of a match. The MCC won by an innings and 88 runs. On the reverse is the scorecard for the previous match during Canterbury Cricket Week - North v South, played on August 9-10. The South won by 8 wickets thanks to WG Grace's 96 (from an opening partnership of 134 with Jupp) in the second innings. Both teams were packed with famous names. The North v South card is fully printed and the Kent v MCC card is printed up to the fall of Kent's 4th wicket in the second innings (31-4). The final scores are recorded neatly in pencil in a contemporary hand.
15.5 x 11cm. Black mark to lower section of North v South card, but otherwise in very good condition. A very rare and important scorecard.
