Charles Thomas Studd (1860-1931) was a cricketer and missionary who played in the famous Test match against Australia in 1882 from which the tradition of the Ashes began. He was captain of the Eton XI in 1879 and of the Cambridge University side in 1883. Studd was also a great advocate of plain speaking and muscular Christianity.

Fifth impression. Small 8vo. 256pp. Portrait frontis., 7 pages of photographs. Foxing to page edges. Gift inscription to front endpaper. Dust-wrapper, chipped to edges with two larger pieces missing. A good copy.
