The classic work on technique, with character-sketches of the players and much interesting historical information. The author was assisted considerably in the preparation and writing of this work by his close friend, C.B. Fry. This book contains some of the best photographs ever seen of the pre-1914 players - an era revered as cricket's "Golden Age". All aspects and avenues of the game are covered, with chapters on public school and Cambridge University cricket by W.J. Ford, Oxford University cricket by Thomas Case, and county cricket by various writers. Apart from this edition, six others were published, 1897-98, also a Signed Limited Edition of 350 copies (with extra plates) and several other "cheap" editions.
