Lord's, May 8 -11, 1926. Middlesex won by 4 wickets. Russell hit an undefeated century and only Freeman (and extras) got into double figures in Essex's unusual first innings. Middlesex fell behind despite 90 from Hendren, but Stevens and Durston, who shared 16 wickets in the match, bowled them into a good position, and 97 from Stevens saw them to victory.
