Official scorecard for a remarkable match played at the United Services Cricket Club Ground in Portsmouth on July 31st - August 2nd 1893. The Australians amassed a huge 843 in their first innings with centuries for Bannerman, Bruce and Trumble but could not force a win, with the Combined Universities team scoring 191 and 82 for 1. Top scoring with 44 and batting at number 5 for the Universities was K.S. Ranjitsinhji in his first season in first-class cricket.
25 x 15cm. Fully printed but with some changes neatly in ink. Further contemporary ink notes to reverse. There is one crease near the right-hand edge and then a 9cm tear across the centre. This could be repaired relatively easily and would then present very well. A very rare and interesting scorecard.
