A fascinating and intelligent early book on rugby. The contents are divided into three parts. Part one is on "Rugger Reminiscences", part two "The Theory and Practice of Rugby Football"; and part three deals with "Records".

First Edition. xi+ [1] + 490pp. + [1]. Frontispiece (England XV 1923-24), 3 further plates, text illustrations and diagrams. Some foxing to page edges and a few small ink marks to top of page block. Green cloth boards with original dust-wrapper, lightly rubbed and foxed with chips to head of spine and some edges. Signed to fly-leaf by both authors with a dedication to F. Carruthers - a further note from Marshall states "With many thanks for giving me my first chance to write about Rugger - and for many other much appreciated kindnesses". A rare signed copy in dust-wrapper.
