The author is the grandson of Jack Mason (1874-1958), the former Kent and England batsman. After discovering his old kit and a batch of letters sent by Mason from the boat en route to Australia for the 1897-98 Ashes cricket series, Lazenby decided to retrace his journey and embarked on a sort of cricketing pilgrimage. A good read.
