Swanton's account of the MCC tour of the West Indies in 1954. It was the first England touring team in modern times to be led by a professional captain (Len Hutton). The series was a 2-all draw but saw the debut of Sobers, aged just 17, in the Fifth and final Test, after Alf Valentine had fallen ill.
8vo. 205pp. Frontispiece and 8 pages of photographs. Dust wrapper, rubbed to edges with some scuffs to front. Good condition. Signed presentation copy from the author to his fellow cricket journalist and author John Woodcock - "In hopes of a tour together in the islands", and dated 1954. Ownership signature of Woodcock to fly-leaf.
